Walton Family Fun Day 2024
Walton village is located in central Somerset near the towns of Glastonbury and Street and is home to about 1400 residents. This is a rural location with footpaths leading out to both the Somerset Levels and the Polden Hills.
The main focal points of Walton are Holy Trinity Church and the Village Hall with its multi use games area – The village hall is home to many active village groups.
There is a village family fun day every year on the playing field by the village hall – this year it was the afternoon of Saturday September 14th 2024
The ‘major’ businesses in the village are the Royal Oak Pub, complete with skittle alley and beer garden, a garage and other small companies located on Creeches lane industrial park area. There are many farms within the parish.
Land for allotments in the village was acquired by the Parish Council in 2014 and an allotment association was set up – allotment plots within the village for Walton residents and others are currently full but please join the waiting list as these things are fluid!
There is a “Walk to” community area with fruit trees and space for people to relax. The village book exchange is in the old red telephone box located close to the church.
Walton has its own primary school which attracts children from nearby towns and villages because of its excellent reputation. There is also a very popular under fives pre school which runs in the Village Hall.
The Church hosts a regular coffee morning – open to everyone – on Thursday mornings 10.30am to 11.30am and there are regular Meet & Greet, Knit & Natter groups in the lounge at the village hall on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, 2pm to 4pm
